In addition to appointments with the GPs, we offer the following dedicated clinics, many of them run by the Practice Nursing Team.

Minor Ailments Clinic
A minor ailments clinic is run by our nursing team every day and will be able to advise on and treat throat infections, ear infections, vaginal discharge, urinary tract infections, emergency contraception, nappy rash, insect bites and stings, hay fever and conjunctivitis, and other minor illneses. Please phone on the day you are ill and need the appointment. There will always be a doctor available if a prescription is needed, however, if you think that your problem is complicated and will definitely need a doctor’s opinion, please book an appointment in the normal way.

Well Woman
Provides basic health checks for female patients. This extends to immunisation status, breast self assessment, smears, contraceptive advice and hormone replacement therapy Book an appointment with Sister at your convenience.

Asthma
Thursday pm & Friday am
This clinic is to access and check the progress of asthmatic patients. Individual help and advice is given to enable them to lead as active and full a life as possible.

Diabetic
Tuesday & Wednesday am
Provides monitoring and education to diabetic patients. Blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar are also checked. It is run by a practice nurse with a doctor available as required.

Coronary Heart Disease
Provides monitoring and education to patients with heart disease. Blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar are also checked. It is run by a practice nurse with a doctor available as required. Book an appointment with Sister at your convenience.

Dietetic
2nd & 4th Wednesday pm
Attendance is by referral from one of our doctors or nurses. This clinic provides dietary advice and is run by a dietician from the North East Wales Trust..

Physiotherapy Services
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
We have a physiotherapist at the medical centre. These services are available by referral from one of our doctors.

Maternity Care
A full programme of antenatal, postnatal and baby immunisation is provided by the practice, with the help of the midwife and health visitor.

Family Planning
All the doctors provide contraceptive advice.

Minor Surgery
For the patients convenience, and after discussion during a normal consultation the doctors are willing to make further arrangements to carry out some minor surgery. For treatment of warts and verrucae there is a wart clinic held each month. Please book an appointment.

Influenza Vaccination
In October each year we offer free Influenza vaccinations to our patients. It is strongly recommended for all patients over 65 and others at special risk, i.e. those with heart or chest complaints and diabetics. Details will available in the surgery from late September each year.

Immunisations
We advise that all children should be fully immunised. Babies up to the age of 2 years can be vaccinated on some mornings 9.30 –10.30 a.m. by appointment. Other vaccinations can be booked with sister at any time.

Recommended ages for immunisation
2 months - Diphtheria, Tetanus, Whooping cough, Polio, HIB & Pneumococcal
3 months - Diphtheria, Tetanus, Whooping cough, Polio, HIB & Meningitis C (1st)
4 months - Diphtheria, Tetanus, Whooping cough, Polio, HIB & Pneumococcal & Meningitis C (2nd)
12 months - HIB & Meningitis C (3rd)
13 months - MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella)
4½ years - Diphtheria, Tetanus & Polio (Pre school booster) & MMR Booster
14-15 years - Diphtheria, Tetanus & Polio boosters

We recommend that all adults have a tetanus booster every 10 years.

Phlebotomy
A Phlebotomist attends the practice every day. Monday to Thursday between 12 noon and 1.00pm. And Friday 8.45 to 9.30am for fasting blood tests. Appointments are required for blood samples to be taken.

Child Development
Regular clinics to check your child’s growth and development are held at various times during the week with Drs Bottomley/Booth/Wiggs or the Health Visitor.

Holiday Vaccinations
People travelling abroad need to protect themselves against various diseases prevailing in the particular country. Information on vaccinations required can be obtained from the surgery by completing a travel form. Book an appointment with sister to get your vaccinations.

Cervical Smears
Women aged between 20 and 64 will in due course automatically be invited for this valuable test. If you think you have missed the routine schedule for some reason, please contact the practice to check when you next smear is due.
